Catherine grew up in Washington, DC in a diplomatic community with children from all over the world. As a young girl, Catherine spent winter vacations on Boca Grande, in the Fort Meyers/Naples area, and often brought beach sand home to DC to remind her of Florida. Catherine attended National Cathedral School for Girls, "NCS," and, after a semester in Lugano, Switzerland at Franklin College, Catherine graduated in 1987 magna cum laude from Harvard University in History & Government (H/R Class of 1986.) Additionally, she holds a Masters of Business Administration from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, that now offers a joint program with Wharton.  Professionally, Catherine worked in investment banking for Lazard Freres in Frankfurt, Deutsche Handelsbank AG in Berlin and for JP Morgan Chase in New York City.  In the late 1990s, Catherine owned and ran Durkee Capital Advisors, a Boston-based commodity trading advisor "CTA" and currently holds six US securities licenses. Active in alternative investments, Catherine has raised assets under management for Quantlab in Houston, TrendConcept in Germany and Valartis Bank Austria. Fluent in German and French, Catherine calls Vienna her second home and adores the Winter Ball Season as well as the Spanish Riding School in the Hofburg, home of the Lipizzaners. Based in Fort Lauderdale, the international yachting capital of the world, Catherine enjoys the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show "FLIBS," Monaco Yacht Show, St. Tropez Sailing Regatta "Les Voiles," America's Cup, Volvo Ocean Race, Candy Store Cup in Newport, RI as well as smaller races in Antigua, Porto Cervo and Nantucket. Additionally, Catherine plays USTA as well as Grandes Dames tennis and enjoys showjumping, polo, film and Formula 1 racing. With several professional choices, helping individuals and families find their dream home is the most fun as well as personally rewarding of Catherine's endeavors.
